CBM Interns – Adventures at Amy’s

By CBM National Intern, Ada Hello friends and blog readers! We are having a rainy week in southern Alabama at Camp Victory (https://www.campvictoryal.org/) where I am interning for two months.  We are right in the middle of spring cleaning every nook and cranny to be ready for summer camp, which is just seven weeks away!!  It's been awesome to see everyone pitch in and help get the cleaning done.  It is an overwhelming task, but with all the staff and some kind volunteers, we are getting it done!      Amy cleaning the dishwasher.   I'd like y’all to meet Amy.  She has been on staff here at Camp Victory for 8 years. ...

Finding a Calling – Horse Ministry

By CBM National Intern, Ryanne It’s amazing to think about how God brought me to this place. A year ago I was pursuing working in a church in a different state; camp ministry wasn’t even close to being on my radar. God used one phone call to change my whole life. Not only has He given me a new direction, but He has also given me a clear calling and vision for what He is asking me to do --  horse ministry. I am not a visionary. I have always been the one who looks at someone else’s big picture and sees all of the little details that have to happen to make that vision a reality; so, when God gave me the big picture for what an effective ...

Leadership Skills – CBM Interns

By CBM National Intern, Tori Hi, my name is Tori, and I'm one of the CBM National interns. I am starting my 8th month of the internship and I'm halfway through my second camp rotation. So far, this internship has been so much more than what I expected. For my first camp rotation, I was partnered with Justin and we went to New Life Camp (https://newlifecamp.com/). Each day of the week, Justin and I were assigned a different department to focus on, such as programming, operations, and also their non-summer month programs. We sat in on the weekly meetings and had regular opportunities to ask questions and learn what the camp does when it's not ...

Volunteer Programs – CBM Intern Highlight

By CBM National Intern, Justin Rorex Salutations! Hey guys, CBM National intern Justin here. Since I started the internship back in September 2014, God has been blowing me away. What I thought was a ministry dedicated just to summer camp, God has shown me is so much more. As Ada said, “they can’t do camp the whole time.” While one of CBM’s main focuses is summer camp, there is a lot more to the year-round ministry aspect that not a lot of people see. Over the next few weeks, I hope you start to see the full spectrum of CBM through our (the interns’) stories. One thing that has really stood out to me was CBM’s Volunteer Program. God ...

Children’s Bible Ministries – And the Lord was with Joseph

By CBM National Intern, David After the four months of training and equipping time spent at CBM headquarters, I was stationed at Camp Ta-pa-win-go in Watauga, TN for the first of three CBM area ministries rotations. My schedule there would allowed me to work with nearly every full-time missionary on staff: -I worked a few days with Aaron, who is over maintenance, helping get wood for the wood stoves that most of the buildings use for heat in the winter. I also helped dig a trench for a large drain pipe. -I worked with Kathy, the Director’s wife, while we cooked and planned for feeding volunteer/guest groups. I cooked for 6 groups while I ...
