Christian Intern – Trusting God Through Fear
By CBM National intern, Priscilla Depew -
Hello everyone! As I write this, I am on my third rotation at Camp Grace in Fairmont, North Carolina. I figured I would share my testimony, since this is my last rotation. I became a Christian when I was seven years old. My mom and I were sitting in the living room, doing a Bible lesson, when I accepted Jesus as my Savior. Nothing huge happened. It wasn’t like I immediately felt changed, and I remember wondering about that. As seven-year-olds do, however, I didn’t really dwell on that thought for long. Over the next 6 years, I said I was a Christian, but I wasn’t growing spiritually. I ...
CBM Intern – Job-Like Faith
By CBM National intern, Jamie Carpenter -
As I reach the halfway point of the CBM National Internship, I stop and take a minute to reflect on everything that I have done and all the things my heavenly Father has taught me. I ask myself, “What is God going to teach me next?” I have faced many trials in these past six months and my flesh wants to get angry with God and ask “Why?” but, in my heart, I know that’s wrong. God is allowing me to go through difficult times so that I will run to Him. Who am I to ask the Creator of the universe, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, why something is happening to me? If not for Him, I would not ...
CBM Intern – God-given Opportunities
By CBM National intern, Joe Kirkland -
How much would you be willing to spend to be able to talk to someone about God? I had an opportunity like that once. All I had to do was give someone some gas, or even pump it for them while talking about God, but I did not. I had a good 5 minutes of being able to talk to them about their father in the hospital and where he might go when he dies, but I never got to fully explain the gospel to them before they left. I regret not using that God-given opportunity to the fullest, but I know God will use it to His glory somehow.
God gives us opportunities like that sometimes, ones that we don’t use to the ...
CBM Intern – 3 Ways to Stay Focused on Christ
By CBM National intern, Priscilla Depew -
Hello everyone! My name is Priscilla Depew. I started the CBM National Internship back in September, and one of the things I've had to learn while being here has been focus. Normally, my focus jumps from object to object, never staying in one place. Before I started the internship, I would zone out during conversations, because I would get distracted. I still do sometimes, but it's gotten better. The reason it's gotten better is because I've prayed about it and figured out three ways to stay focused on Christ.
1. Prayer
Pray all the time. Whenever your mind begins to think on whatever is ...
CBM Intern – Important things
By CBM National intern, Joseph Kirkland -
Traveling is probably one of the best ways to learn about the world and the people in it. You get to learn how others think, how others learn, and how big the world really is. The earth is 24,901 miles around at its widest point, and it would take around 33 hours to get around it at the speed of sound. If you were to walk 5 miles every day, you would walk around the world in 4,960 days, given that you could walk on water. The cost to travel around the world would be around $2,800, and would take around 6 days if flying by average commercial airline. You can go any reasonable place in the world for ...
