An Introduction to Your Neighbor

By CBM National intern, Paul Daly - “Who is my neighbor?” the lawyer tested Jesus. In his mind, neighbors were those that were of his nationality and religion. His neighbor was the man that was a Jew, like him. The lawyer’s intention behind the question was flawed. Nevertheless, Jesus’ intention behind His answer was different, and His response teaches us a profound lesson about the love that He expects from us.   Rather than answering, “A Jew should love a Jew,” like I believe the lawyer wanted to hear, Jesus tells him a story. Jesus never reveals the nationality or religion of the main protagonist; instead, He refers to ...

Christian Internship- The Importance of Fellowship

By CBM National interns, Scott & Jerri Carpenter - The definition of fellowship is friendly association, especially with people who share one’s interests. Awesome enough for us Christians is that we share the best thing in the world, our love of God! There are two things I like to think about when it comes to fellowship: who can fellowship and what is supposed to be a part of fellowship! Who can fellowship: You can fellowship with one other person or sixty other people! That is what is great about it. Sometimes it is nice to just sit down and talk for hours with one person. You can also eat a meal, play games, and talk with twenty ...

Four Labels You Need to Let Go Of

By CBM National intern, Paul Daly- I’m at that point in life where it’s time to discover who I am. What do I believe? How do I think? Who should I be? Recently, I’ve become a label collector. Labels are good, if used correctly. Through them, I’ve learned a lot about who God has made me to be. But sometimes, we need to lose those labels because they hold us back. We say things such as, “Well, I can’t do that because I’m this.” Or, “Well I’m this and you’re that, so we can’t be friends.” So often we use the labels as limitations rather than a means for liberation. Labels should tell you where you need to grow and what ...

Just Wait

By CBM National intern, Mark Martens- The term “wait,” as defined by Merriam-Webster, is “to stay in a place until an expected event happens, until someone arrives, until it is your turn to do something, etc.” I will be honest with you; sometimes I find it hard to wait. In fact, when I think about it, I have a really hard time waiting. From the first time that my alarm goes off, I am already off thinking about what the day has ahead of me. I then proceed to keep myself busy for the majority of the day. However, on days like these, I can find myself exhausted and that’s when I’m reminded of a certain truth.   In Isaiah ...

Four Things to Remember

By CBM National interns, Scott and Jerri Carpenter We have spent our first CBM National Internship rotation at Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go doing released time with a very wonderful teacher! She gives the kids four things to remember: Bible, friends, lessons, and verses. Obviously, this is a way to encourage the kids to invite others to hear God’s word and to get them to understand it better themselves. We think this is something that every person should remember also, whether you are four or sixty-four.   BIBLE: We need to be in our Bible every single day so we can become more knowledgeable of God, as well as prepared to love the world. ...
