A Note to the Parents

Written by Jacquelyn Davis, National Intern Coordinator - Hello parents and grandparents! This blog is for you. We often write from the interns’ perspective, and usually to prospective interns, but today I want to write to all the parents, grandparents, friends and family members of those prospective interns. Maybe you are looking at the internship page because you think it would something you would like your son or daughter to do. Maybe it is because they have mentioned the program and are interested in it themselves. Or maybe you're lost in the vast space we call the Internet. Whatever the case may be, welcome. I want to take a few minutes to ...

How Do I Know?

Written by Jacquelyn Davis, National Intern Coordinator - So, you’re graduating. Congratulations! I bet a few things you are sick of hearing are, “What are you doing with your life?” “Have you decided on a college?” “What do you plan to major in?” This time of your life is all about planning for the future and making big decisions. Few people tell you that these decisions are really like every other decision you will face in your life, and those decisions will just keep coming, the older you get. It can seem overwhelming, and slightly terrifying, this unknown territory of “the future.” How do you know where to go? What to do? ...

Life of Zannino

By Josiah Zannino, CBM National InternLife of Zannino - Well, what I have been doing for the two past months, here at Camp Ozone in Rockwood, Tennessee is working on projects with Jeff and the volunteers that come in. Jeff is the main maintenance guy at camp. I've been working with him here at camp. What I like about it is that, when we would take breaks, Jeff would talk about God, then open up his phone and go into the word of God, which I thought was really cool. I guess you could say that what God has been showing me is what to do with my life. I’ve thought about, after the internship, traveling to different camps and doing maintenance ...

Being Still

By Kalaya Beyer, CBM National Intern - Where do I even begin? Being on rotation at Camp Ta-Pa-Win-Go is honestly what I needed. Someone asked me, the morning I was scheduled to travel here, if I was anxious about coming here. I wasn't, until I drove off. I was very unsure of myself when Rebecca and Rhiannon, my fellow interns, dropped me off. The camp is very quiet, compared to New Life Camp where I went on my first rotation, and quiet makes me uneasy. I have always thrived on noise and grew up with noisy brothers and dogs and basketball games being played on TV late at night. I didn't think I could ever work in total silence, with only my headph...

Enough

By Rebecca Colson, CBM National Intern -  “Enough.” I recently noticed I’ve been hearing that word pretty often. In a conversation, a line in a song, a movie scene. But most often I hear it in my own head. In my head the words “I’m not” are likely to be found shortly before the word “enough.” “I’m not smart enough.” “I’m not spiritual enough.” “I’m not good enough.” Years ago I visited a museum with my family. I noticed a small drawing hanging in the corner of a room and couldn’t help but laugh. I brought my parents over to look at ...
