Learning Excellence on a Lawn Mower

Written by Wesley Grizzard What can I learn from sitting on a lawn mower you ask? Well, you came to the right place. I’m going to give you several things that you can learn from being on a lawn mower. Reasons that stretch from simply knowing how to drive one, to how to stripe those yards like a pro! Buckle up because here we go folks!  First off, it’s zero turns people! Nearly everyone these days uses a zero turn! Zero turns (given the right brand) are finely tuned grass cutting machines! They go backwards, they go forwards, they turn 360’s while staying in one spot, hence the name zero turn. When sitting on one, you have your ...

What I Learned While Watching the Cows Graze

By Katlyn Carney, Team #9 Intern Have you ever just stood there and watched the cows graze? Imagine yourself with your arms crossed on top of a wooden fence. Now, lay your chin on your crossed arms. Picture yourself looking out into a beautiful green pasture that ends just as the perfect blue sky begins, watching the cows graze, lay down, and do it all over again. You feel the wind blow against your face, maybe smell something not so delightful. You watch that perfect blue sky start changing into majestic colors as the sun starts to set. Still… the cows are grazing.  “So, if the cows can praise Him, why can’t we?” Have you ...

Blooming Under Stress

By Elizabeth Price, CBM National intern - In mid-September of 2018, Hurricane Florence ravaged the Carolinas, leaving disaster in its wake. Our town of Dillon, SC was greatly affected with flooding, though not as bad as some of our surrounding areas. Despite all the tragedy that has occurred, one interesting phenomena resulted from the storm; the Bradford Pear trees came back in bloom. The local meteorologist gave this explanation on his Facebook page: “...stress of any kind, such as slow-moving Florence, can trigger blooming. Apparently it’s a tree’s defensive mechanism. Basically, when they are stressed they go into protection mode ...

Four Labels You Need to Let Go Of

By CBM National intern, Paul Daly- I’m at that point in life where it’s time to discover who I am. What do I believe? How do I think? Who should I be? Recently, I’ve become a label collector. Labels are good, if used correctly. Through them, I’ve learned a lot about who God has made me to be. But sometimes, we need to lose those labels because they hold us back. We say things such as, “Well, I can’t do that because I’m this.” Or, “Well I’m this and you’re that, so we can’t be friends.” So often we use the labels as limitations rather than a means for liberation. Labels should tell you where you need to grow and what ...

Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

By CBM National intern; Paul Daly I am a habitual thinker. Most people don’t notice this, but I can and will spend hours alone pacing the floor, listening to music, and just thinking—about a plethora of things. The reason: I love gaining understanding. During the summer of 2015, when I was serving as a junior counselor at Camp Grace for the third summer, God showed me that the next step for me was to apply to be an intern with Children’s Bible Ministries. I did not understand that at all. Suddenly, my mind was bombarded with an avalanche of questions. Being at the bottom of the mountain, I tried to take time to analyze and give reason ...
