CBM Intern – Relying on God

By CBM National intern, Priscilla Depew –

Hello everyone! For my first rotation as a CBM National Intern, I am at Camp Victory in Samson, Alabama. When I found out that I was coming here, I was kind of worried. I’m from a big family, and I had never lived on my own. Even when I was at CBM head quarters, I had roommates. Once I came down to south Alabama, I knew I would be super far away from my friends and family, and that terrified me.

I didn’t know what to expect or what I would be doing when I reached Camp Victory. I am a very people-oriented person, so living alone did not sit well with me. I really struggled when I first arrived. I missed my friends and family. But as time went on, I got more used to being alone.

It was during this time that I realized how powerless I am, and how strong God is. He is in control of everything, and He knows exactly what we’re going through. He cares for us more than anything else in the world. I had always known this, and yet it had never really impacted me the way it does now. There are so many verses about relying on God, but I think my favorite is Proverbs 3:5, which says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

God knows everything. Compared to Him, we know next to nothing. If we lean on our own understanding, we’ll just get stressed and worried about what the future holds. As the verse says, we are to trust in Him with all our heart, because He knows what’s best for us, and He has a plan for us. He puts us where we are for a reason. We may not know what it is at the moment, but we will understand one day.

How can God use you and your talents to further His kingdom?
