Every day, I meet people who seem to down grade Baltimore city, as if there is no good thing that can come from our city. Yes, I agree, according to the news about all of the recent killings, it is hard to believe that anything good can come out of the city, but in reality, it happens all the time. Meet 12-year-old Shamerra who was one of my students at the Character Building Club which meets at MaryAnn Winterling Elementary School. She is a very quiet and meek girl. Although she never had much to say, I really enjoyed having her in class because she showed a great interest in the things of God. To my surprise, her mother contacted me in May to inform me that Shamerra had written a play called “The Reflection” and it was going to be performed on the Center Stage at the Young Play Writer’s Festival. I was so excited to be invited and my son and I were so honored to be able to go. Her play was selected out of 350 entries! WOW!!!
I am so grateful that God allowed me to meet this girl and her family. What great relationships are created when you take the time to care! Thanks for being great partners in this Gospel Ministry. You may not be teaching in the clubs, but your prayers are encouraging us and gifted people like Shamerra are being developed!
