CBM Intern – My Favorite Thing About Training as an Intern

By Rhiannon Grace, CBM National Intern

Hello! My name is Rhiannon Grace.  I am a part of the Team 7 interns for CBM (Children’s Bible Ministries) and, over the past few months, we have been going through our preparation for working in the different CBM Area ministries.

One of the things we are doing as a team, one of my favorite things we do, is praying together in the morning. Even though that may seem like a small thing, I think that we should all want to do that, but we often don’t. We make excuses like, “Oh no, I slept in!” or “I am so tired right now,” and even less important ones such as “I have to do my jigsaw puzzle,” or “I have to go wake up my brother by banging pots & pans outside his door.” But we should not make excuses because it’s important to start our day in prayer, even if it’s something short.  Praying “Lord show me your glory in this day” would be better than nothing at all.

In Matthew 26, Jesus went to pray alone, then he came back to his disciples and found them asleep. So he said to Peter in verses 40b and 41: “What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” These words should mean a lot to us. They were said right before one of the most trying things Jesus went through—dying for us. We should pray before we go through the trials in our day.  Also, we should be watching and praying that we enter not into temptation. After all, it would be weird if we prayed for God to save us from a trial after it was done and gone. Instead, pray before you face your day and then, afterwards, thank him for bringing you through it.  The spirit is willing but flesh is weak. Yes, you can start your day saying, “I will not fall today Lord,” but it would be better to start it with, “Lord help me not to fall and, if I do, catch me and lift me up.”

In 1 Chronicles 16:11 it says “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.” So seek the Lord before you start your day. Ask Him to give you strength to face the day and to look for Him throughout your day.

And that is why praying is one of my favorite things we do as Interns at CBM. As always, I hope you have a wonderful day – Rhiannon Grace
