No longer a coal mine! Founded on prayer, and continuing in that tradition, the Cornerstone story
is one of great faith. Reba Miller organized and started CBM’s first Released Time Program in
1967. Summer camp was held at various locations, but Director Judy Virgili was praying for God to
give them a property. In 2007, Consul Energy donated a 27-acre property with two large buildings,
formerly a coal mine, to CBM to develop into a camp, and God has provided in so many ways since
then. Cornerstone’s summer 2018 theme was “Survivor: A Legacy of Faith.” Their school year
ministries include Guest Groups, Bible Correspondence Lessons, Released Time, and Community
events. New This Year: Amphitheater and Prayer Garden!
CBM OF MARYLAND

Dot Warehime and May Petzold formed CBM of MD in 1984. CBM does not yet have a camp
in Maryland, but they minister to children through 40 different after-school and summer Bible
Clubs, as well as at fairs and festivals. They rent a nearby camp property to run a week of camp
for the children they minister to during the school year and are praying for God’s provision of a

CAMP RED ARROW (CBM OF VIRGINIA)
The ministry began in 1937. An enterprising Pastor, who was teaching Bible lessons in
19 schools, awarded a free week of camp to four girls and one boy who had memorized
300 Bible verses. Many faithful volunteers continued teaching the Bible to public school
students through the years.
In 2007, CBM received a gift of a 48-acre property (formerly the Washington Redskins
Training Facility!) called Camp Red Arrow, which is going strong. They continue to be
one of the fastest growing CBM areas. CBM of VA’s school year ministries include Guest
Groups, Bible Correspondence Lessons, and Released Time. Please pray for God to bring
new missionaries and Bible teachers to this growing CBM Area.

Dr. and Mrs. John Read began a Bible teaching and reading program in OK in 1945, which eventually
became Bible Fellowships, Inc. In 1996, the OK branch was incorporated as CBM of the Great
Southwest.
CBM does not yet have a camp property in this Area, but the Released Time ministry is reaching 1,343
children/month in 15 schools in 11 counties in Oklahoma and Missouri. Praise the Lord! Last school
year, there were 650 reported salvation decisions! CBM is in need of a full-time Director in this Area,
and many more volunteer Bible teachers. The current Director, Scott Brinson, is also affiliated with
Shepherds Bible Institute in Kenya, where he travels several times each year to train and disciple
pastors.
