Seeing God’s Hand in Creation

By Ron and Sherry Yeater Quillford made his way along the hedge on his regular search for food. The stillness of the night was broken by a squeaky hinge on the screen door. Quillford stopped in his tracks and listened. Sure enough, he heard the approach of Barky who was out for his final night run. Barky quickly searched the yard and found Quillford’s scent near the hedge. Barky had tried to catch him before but this time he felt that he was really close. Yes, there he was! Just one quick bite and then…ooowww, yelp, yelp, whine. Quillford had heard him coming and quickly rolled up in a tight ball with only his sharp quills pointing ...

S.O.A.P.ing: An Easy Way to Teach Children How to Study the Bible

By Ladonna Andreu Do you apply soap when you take a bath or shower? Sure you do. But why?  It seems logical, to many, that the answer is: Soap makes you clean because it takes away the dirt you pick up all throughout the day. But do you know that many campers believe that swimming in the lake makes them clean? Yes, they are in the water for a LONG time AND they use a towel to dry off.  So, why isn’t this acceptable? “It is one thing to simply read God’s Word.  But what happens when you slow down and really read it? Words can start ‘bubbling’ off the page and speak to you.” These questions and answers seem so ...

4 Ways to Control a Classroom

By Dr. Mark Redka 4 Ways to Control a Classroom When I was 17, I was asked to teach the 5th grade boys’ Sunday School class. I was handed a lesson manual but got no instruction.   I’m not sure what happened to the last teacher but, after a week or two, I suspected either a nervous breakdown or the boys had killed him off.  I tried everything to gain control but it was a battle every week. That continued even when I taught Junior Church while in Bible school. “Okay Billy, take your chair and sit in the hallway.”  Billy was once again disturbing the class. He just had no respect, and he was a deacon’s son!&n...

CBM–People Who Care Others

Many times people ask “what isChildren’s Bible Ministries all about?” Simply, it is teaching children about the Word of God. But, there is more to this statement. Behind it are the people who make it happen. These are the workers, the hands of God,  who offer their lives to Him. So often these people go about doing what has to be done and that is just that.  But what if these people didn’t listen as God worked on their hearts, then nothing would happen. Or they chose not to respond? Then what would happen?  Lives would not be changed.  Hearts would not be healed and God’s love would not be revealed. Thankfully, people ...

Jesus Loves the Little Children

CBM is all about getting the Word of God into the hearts of boys and girls. We do it through Bible stories, through camp games, memorization of scriptures and various songs. The following was sent to us from our CBM work in Virginia: While in the Bible trailer, the class sang “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red, brown, yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world.” A second grade girl was as serious as could be when she asked, “What about tan? My dad is black and my mom is white, so I am tan. Does Jesus love me?” The teacher answered, “Absolut...
