In Quietness and in Confidence shall be Your Strength

In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

An Danish author tells the story of an old peasant who made an unusual request of his son as he lay dying. He asked his son to go into the best room of the house every day and sit there alone for half an hour. The son agreed to the strange request and promised his father he would do what he had been told.

After his father’s death, the son kept faithful to his promise. He did this unusual thing, spending a half an hour alone each day. At first the time of quiet and solitude was uncomfortable. He became restless and anxious for the time to end. But over the weeks, that half hour of solitude grew into a cherished and even transforming habit. The son looked forward to this brief quiet time each day and even began to thrive on it. He began to experience deep and calming changes within himself.

Are you willing to be alone for half an hour a day? Are you will to take an adventure of expectant faith, not looking for a predefined experience, not seeking an emotional high, but asking Jesus to come to you in His own way?

With your body relaxed and comfortable, and looking only to Jesus, your heart will be turned to Him in adoration. From this experience, you are likely to have a greater desire to obey Him. People who devote time to be alone with the Lord find a renewed reservoir of personal strength and quiet confidence.

The world desperately needs people who are trying out Jesus’ way of life and have an ever-deepening experience of Him. They are looking for peace and joy that lasts, and those qualities only show up in the lives believers who allow Jesus to reign in their hearts.

Spend some peaceful moments alone with the Lord today and watch the peace and joy in your heart grow and spill over into the lives of others.

I researched Isaiah 30:15 and was blessed by discovering your comments and website. I will return. I hope it is okay to share this story on Facebook andmy website. I constantly seek quietness, but your analogy supports it. I will include your credit line and website. Others can benefit from this writing.

I woke up with praises in my heart and on my lips. (scriptures and songs) I then want to read scriptures that talked about being quiet. The first one was in Luke, when John didn’t believe the Angel. I then put in the word “quite” and your site came up. To read your article and the replies were heart warming and gave me another goal to aim for. Being still and quite when there is no storm helps me to be in the perfect position when there is a raging storm. God is always there with His delivering hand, a calming spirit and peaceful outcome.
I am starting with my Savior, 15 minutes a day – just sitting sitting and quite. Thank you for letting God use your Ministry.

This message was what I needed at this quiet time of waiting for my book to be return from editing department. Our Dear Heavenly Father was/is disciplining me during this precious time of quietness [end of summer; and before busyness of Fall months] return. I am reminded of what Bishop Jakes said in a message: “can we walk with GOD when HE’s silent?” And that takes discipline.
GOD continued blessings upon you for this and other much-needed messages ‘at such a time as this!’

Thank you for this word in season. I am learning from the Lord about quieting the mind in God’s presence , paying attention to today while believing Him for a bright future. In the process, I was directed to the verse on quietness and confidence , and then discovered your website. May the Lord be praised.

Beautiful analogy. To see that it’s for children is even more amazing. I wish I would have had this understanding earlier in life. I allow anything and everything to.distract me from my quiet time.

But thank God it’s never too late as I continue to.xommit to spending time with God daily.

The Christian Faith is very often far removed from The Christian Belief. For those like me who, having been nurtured in the Faith, now ask for more evidence of miraculous claims, and find them totally unsubstantiated , and in some cases falsified for no less purpose than to make history “fit” . This is where Belief becomes important. I wholly accept Christian Beliefs as a “code” of social behaviour, comment and encouragement because it becomes valid in all our society regardless of “faith.” But one does not have to be a Christian to accept and believe in my “Christian Beliefs.” Such standards become self evident in a normal Society. I merely promote the idea that Christian Beliefs are representative of Normal Behaviour. Nature is predominate. Religion is fast becoming an historical failure

Great article and comments!! As I read them, I was reminded of the scripture Ephesians 5:19 (“speaking to yourselves in psalm, hymns and spiritual songs, making melodies in your hearts unto the Lord.”) and the hymn by Mamie Pearson “Blessed Quietness”

1 Joys are flowing like a river, Since the Comforter has come; He abides with us forever,
Makes the trusting heart his home.

    Refrain:
    Blessed quietness, Holy quietness, What assurance in my soul;
On the stormy sea, Jesus speaks to me,
And the billows cease to roll.

2 Bringing life and health and gladness
All around his heav’nly Guest, Conquered unbelief and sadness, Changed our weariness to
    rest. [Refrain]

3 Like the rain that falls from heaven, Like the sunlight from the sky,
So the Holy Spirit’s given, Coming on us from on high. [Refrain]

4 See, a fruitful field is growing, Blessed fruit of righteousness; And the streams of life are
flowing, In the lonely wilderness. [Refrain]

5 What a wonderful salvation, Where we always see his face, What a perfect habitation, What
    a quiet resting place. [Refrain]

I to was blessed as the verse about quietness and confidence and rest came to mind. Not knowing where the verse was I did a search and found this article. My prayer for today is that I am quiet and calm today, that I am still today, and that I do what Ephesians 5:19 says. Which is to speak to myself in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs

This is a beautiful scripture and today I volunteer to help a very out of control child and to see him thrashing about as I
was holding him down all I could think about was him seeing the Lord Jesus and the demon inside this boy fearing the worst
After a while and the lad standing to his feet and heading outside for a break (And fresh air this was vital) after the bell went and the class return so did the little lad who came to me and apologies to me and wanted me to stay with him during class activities.
. I had nothing to do with this at all. It was Jesus connection to the life of this little boy that calm him down. I was the vessel Our Lord God used to make this connection. No matter who we are how old we are or what our physical state is . Genesis 2vs 7 . Jeremiah 1v5 as is the whole Bible for all humanity. .

Good morning ! The words and quietness shall be your strength were spoken to me and a revelation that ,When you are challenged by the enemy and choose to stand still instead of fighting back with anger something happens to the enemy. Your prayers can be answered spontaneously. You are operating in Devine order and flow..The power of GOD is allowed to flow.

What a powerful and excellent message. It echoes what I have heard several ministers say lately (E Pluribus Unum!)–about learning to be quiet with the LORD. Apostle Benny Hinn especially talked about it in a fairly recent sermon, about “Waiting on the LORD” and “Practicing the Presence of the LORD.” I am doing more of this, and it’s rewarding!

I am going to copy your URL and put it on my website (www.RiverRainCreative.com) to spread this good message. Thank you for sharing the Word of the LORD!

I was thinking of what to do in order to thrive in this difficult time and complete Lock down for two weeks by my home government. This scripture came to my mind and in search for it I came across this article. It solved my agitation and I am blessed with it.

Good Afternoon, I’m am so happy to share how this article has both blessed me and confirmed for me, why I was able to experience so much rest and joy in My soul! Literally, I am thinking about how much I am enjoying, just being in Your Presence Jesus! In fact, You were telling me to ” Ease on down the road”, as You often do! Suddenly, I am aware of this time spent with You, Jesus, as My answer from You, in the Midst of My Pain and Hurt!Just to be able , to Confidently rest in Your Presence is Your Answer to me , in My Prayer. In other words, just like David, in Psalms 3:6, was surrounded by enemies, he had to decide whether to focus on the hatred, or to pay attention to , Who is Good and True, and that is Only You Lord! The fact that You are giving me time in Your Presence Alone, gives me Confidence! In the Story of Mary and Martha, Mary is commended and defended, by Jesus for simply sitting in His Presence, resting at His feet! WOW! The Holy Spirit just confirmed for me once more, how He fights for us when we take refuge in Him! In fact, How many times in scripture does Our Lord , teach us how to fight our battles in Prayer ? Thank You for sharing this Revelation of God’s , Secret Way to Answer our prayers, with None Other than Himself! For He is Our Shield and Our Exceedingly, Great Reward! Genesis 15:1

Many years ago my husband who back then was my fiancee kept sending me these words. Each time we spoke he always signed off by these words( in quietness and trust) . Most often I got very mad at him because I did not want to be calm neither did I want to be quite. Ten years into marriage I know understand the importance of this word. It really pays to be quiet and trust God. It gets you deeper with God, even though more difficult situations pop, thanks for the ministry of quietness and trust and with Christ . There is this deep down strength. I am now able to spend more time with Christ without my thoughts wondering about. My ministry of praise and worship has also moved to another level.

My heart and spirit have been heavy and restless. I find myself crying whenever I go to Him in prayer. However, as I recover from pleading and worship, the Holy Spirit reminded me of this verse as I prayed for the truth of the election results to come out.

I am home from church today, a cold and headache, sore throat. COVID is running rampant across our state, our country, our world. My heart was burdened I decided to get out my journal and Bible and listen to beautiful piano in a quiet way. As I listened – the words from a verse I recalled from one of my first years as a teacher -came to mind. “In quietness and trust…..” I couldn’t think of the rest. I googled it and found this story. With all the craziness of teaching &Covid having hit our school I had felt overwhelmed. This reading reminded me to be quiet before the Lord. He will strengthen me. Thank you
