CBM Intern – 3 Ways to Stay Focused on Christ

CBM intern

Hello everyone! My name is Priscilla Depew. I started the CBM National Internship back in September, and one of the things I’ve had to learn while being here has been focus. Normally, my focus jumps from object to object, never staying in one place. Before I started the internship, I would zone out during conversations, because I would get distracted. I still do sometimes, but it’s gotten better. The reason it’s gotten better is because I’ve prayed about it and figured out three ways to stay focused on Christ.

1. Prayer

Pray all the time. Whenever your mind begins to think on whatever is taking your focus away from Christ, pray about it. Pray so much it becomes a natural thing whenever you get distracted. Just pour out your heart to God. He already knows, so you might as well talk to Him, right?

2. Have an accountability partner

Get with a fellow Christian, someone you are close to and trust. Tell them what’s going on in your life and pray for each other. Hold each other accountable to staying focused on God and His plan. Being held accountable can be difficult, because your accountability partner may point out things that you don’t want them to. It may hurt, but it will help you regain focus.

3. Stay in your Bible

Study and know God’s Word. Memorize Scripture, so you can remember it when you need it. A really good passage that’s helped me with focus is Psalm 25. Verse 15 says, “My eyes are always on the Lord, for He rescues me from the traps of my enemies.” That is a good verse to remember and hold on to. If our focus stays on Christ, He will keep us safe from our enemies. He will open our eyes to the traps our enemies set for us.

I know from personal experience that these tips help. Rely on God, and He will guide you and help keep your focus on Him.
