Losing it All to Gain Everything

By Ryan Everritt, CBM National Intern - 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV) “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”   How often do we thank God?  I can't answer for anyone but myself. And you know your own self. It's easy to thank God for a new day and the food you eat. But do we thank God “in all circumstances”--even in the hard times? Surely when you get a job promotion, or you get a new car, or something wonderful happens, there's cause for celebration. But what if you lost your job, your home, or a family member passed away--what then? Will you blame God or thank Him giving them to you ...

Christian Internship – Blind to the Obvious

By CBM National intern, Jamie Carpenter - The Lord is always doing something in our lives even if it is not easy for us to see. When I began the CBM National Internship Program I had an idea of what I was getting into, but experiencing it first-hand was like nothing else I’ve encountered. As I mentioned in my very first blog, God worked in me in tremendous ways just within the first month that I was at CBM National Headquarters. Some members of her group were robbed during a run.  The conditions were not ideal.  During her trip to Israel, she was able to see Mt. Caramel where Elijah ...

Where is God Working?

He is working in my life personally. Attacks on my character, having no validity, have been directed at me recently. However, my response to these attacks has surprised even me. I have not arrived at the place of "great joy" or "perfection" talked about in James 1:2-4, but my response to this trial has shown me that God has been working in my life. Earlier in my life, my reaction would have been one of anger and self-defense. Instead, I am finding a sincere peace and calmness through my relationship with Jesus. This was confirmed as I was reading in 1 Peter. 1Peter 1:21 says, " For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as ...
